Ingredients

“Enough cooked Macaroni to fill a medium sized cassarole or baking pan one-third full” (original recipe estimates 1C, but that’s too little)

2 eggs well beaten

Salt & pepper to taste

1 pint milk

3/4 - 1 lb grated cheddar cheese (use a very coarse grater) (original recipe reads 1 to 1-1/4 lb, but both Ma and I consistently find that too much)

Preparation

Mix all ingredients in a cassarole, reserving enough cheese to cover the top (more than you think, and depends on how thick you like the cheesy top-crust). Bake in an oven (about 300, though I usually have it a little bit hotter) about 30 minutes, until cheese, milk, &c is well set, then on 400 till brown on top.
