Ingredients
Macaroni and Cheese Bake
2 C. uncooked macaroni
2 C. White Sauce
1 C. Cheddar or Monterey Jack Cheese
1/2 Cup crushed croutons
White Sauce- Medium Thick
2 Tbsp. Butter or Margarine
2 Tbsp. Flour
1/2 tsp. salt
Few grains Pepper
1 C. Milk
Preparation
First, Boil salted water in a sauce pan. Add the macaroni and cook until tender. Drain. While Macaroni is cooking make the white sauce. Spread 1/2 of the noodles in the bottom of a buttered casserole dish, sprinkle with 1/2 the cheese. Repeat. Add the White sauce. Sprinkle the crumbs on the top. Bake at 400 degrees until the crumbs are browned, usually about 15-20 minutes.
White Sauce- Medium Thick Melt butter in the top of a double boiler over boiling water in bottom. Add flour, salt, and pepper, stir until smooth. Add milk slowly, stirring constantly, until all the milk has been added and the sauce is smooth and thickened.
