Ingredients
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened at room temperature
1/2 cup shortening
2 large eggs
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 3/4 cup flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
Leave these ingredients until after the cookies have been rolled into balls:
2 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
Preparation
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Cream shortening and unsalted butter. Add eggs one at a time, beating until mixed. Add sugar, beating until mixed.
Sift together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
Combine dry mixture into wet mixture until fully mixed.
Combine leftover sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl, set aside. Roll the cookie dough into small balls, approximately 1 inch in diameter. Dip one side of the rolled balls into the sugar and cinnamon mixture and place onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes until cookies are lightly browned.
