Ingredients
4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 small yellow onion, chopped
1 (28 fl oz) can whole peeled
tomatoes (do not drain)
2 (14.5 fl oz) cans diced tomatoes
3 tsp dried basil
1 tsp white sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp black pepper
Preparation
- In a large skillet, saute the onion and garlic in olive oil for about 10 minutes or until golden.
- Smash the whole peeled tomatoes with your fingers and add to the pan along with the diced tomatoes, basil, sugar, salt and pepper. Cover and simmer 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
