Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1/2 pound ground pork

1 can (4 ounces) sliced mushrooms,

water

1 egg

1/4 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp salt

4 strips of bacon

1 tsp dried parsley flakes

1/2 tsp oregano

1/2 tsp of dried basil

1/2 tsp dried thyme

1/2 cup bread crumbs

1/2 cup diced white onion

1 cup mozarella shredded

1 can tomato or spaghetti 16 ounces

Preparation

  1. Drain mushrooms saving juice in measuring cup.

  2. Add water to make 1 cup of liquid

  3. in bowl combine beef, pork, bread crumbs, egg, mushroom liquid, garlic powder and salt. Mix well, cover and refrigerate until ready to use

  4. Fry bacon until crisp. Drain fat and save for later. Crumble bacon

  5. Remove meat mixture from refrigerator. On large sheet of wax paper, pat meat mixture into a 12 x 8 rectangle. Will be relatively thin

  6. Drizzle 2-3 tsp of bacon fat over meat.

  7. Mix spices and sprinkle over meat. Do the same with the bread crumbs

  8. Leaving a 1/2 inch border all around the meat, scatter bacon, onion, mushrooms and cheese.

  9. Starting at one of the narrow ends, roll up the meat, pressing meat as necessary to contain the filling.

  10. Put in 13x 9 x 2 dish and cover with sauce.

  11. Bake for 50-60 mintues.
