Ingredients

2 pounds ground pork

2 pounds ground beef

2 cups soft bread crumbs (dry works too)

3 slightly beaten eggs

1 16 ounce can crushed or diced tomatoes

1 cup finely chopped onion

1 tablespoon salt or garlic salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/3 cup crisp bacon, crumbled

4 strips uncooked bacon

beef broth or boullion combined with water

3-4 tablespoons of flour

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Set aside broth,flour, and cooked and uncooked bacon.

Mix together all the other remaining ingredients and shape into a loaf on a shallow roasting pan. Lay strips uncooked bacon over loaf. Bake for 1 and a half hours. Drain off drippings and juices. Add broth or boullion and water to make 3 cups. Blend flour and just enough water to make a paste. Add to drippings and cook until it is smooth and thickened. Just before serving, add the crumbled bacon to the gravy.
