Ingredients

1 pound green split peas

2 smoked ham hocks

1/2 pound lean smoke bacon, in one piece

5 medium chopped onions

4 sliced leeks

1 medium dices carrot

1 cup white wine

1 minced clove garlic

1/2 tsp majoram

1/4 tsp thyme

salt, freshly ground pepper

Preparation

Combine all ingredients except salt and pepper with 8 cups of water.

Simmer 2-2.5 hours.

Remove meat, continue to cook 10-15 minutes until peas are soft.

Season to taste with salt and pepper.
