Ingredients

1 cup butter, softened

1 cup brown sugar

1 egg yolk (separated)

1 tsp. vanilla

2 cups flour

¼ tsp. salt

1 6oz. pkg. chocolate bars

1 cup chopped nuts, pecans or walnuts

Preparation

Cream butter, sugar, egg yolk and vanilla. Beat well; add well sifted ingredients. Mix thoroughly. Place in a greased 11x16" pan and flatten with wet hands to prevent sticking. Bake at 325’ for 25" until golden brown. Put chocolate bars on top when just out of the oven (when hot) and spread when melted and sprinkle nuts on top. Cool on rack. Cut into squares. Yield 2-3 dozen.

Note: makes one small sized cookie sheet.
