Ingredients

5-8 firm apples

3-5 pears (soft are better but firm are fine)

Some other fruit, such as 3-5 peaches (hard peaches are fine) or 1-2 mangos or 6 or so kiwis. Avoid berries.

2-3 inches of ginger

Sliced almonds

2 cinnamon sticks

3-4 cups juice (orange or apple or your choice)

Preparation

  1. Wash all fruit. Do not peel the applies or pears.

  2. Chop fruit into small pieces and mix together In a large bowl.

  3. Peel ginger, chop coarsely, and add to the fruit mixture.

  4. Add a couple handful of the almonds to the fruit and ginger mixture. Mix well.

  5. Pour the mixture into a baking pan and spread out more or less evenly. Bury the 2 cinnamon sticks in the mixture. Pour the juice over the fruit.

  6. Bake at about 300 degrees for 2 hours, mixing occasionally.

  7. Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container.

  8. Can be served cold or warm (1-2 min in microwave).

  9. Keeps for about 3 weeks.
