Ingredients

¾ cup shortening

1 cup white sugar

1 egg

½ cup light molasses (light)

2 ½ cups flour

2 teaspoons soda

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon cloves

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 teaspoon ginger

Preparation

Blend together:

¾ cup shortening 1 cup white sugar 1 egg ½ cup light molasses (light)

Add: stirring until mixed:

2 ½ cups flour 2 teaspoons soda ½ teaspoon salt ½ teaspoon cloves 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon ginger

Roll into small balls (about size of shelled walnuts) Dip in sugar

Bake at 375 F 10-12 minutes until barely set
