Ingredients

1 lb sausage or bacon, cooked, drained, and crumbled

4 cups stale cubed bread, toast if not stale

2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

10 eggs, lightly beaten

4 cups milk

1 tsp dry mustard

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp onion powder

Fresh ground pepper to taste

Optional:

sliced mushrooms

Preparation

Grease well 9 x 13 baking dish Place bread in dish and sprinkle with cheese Mix next 5 ingredients, including pepper and pour evenly over bread and cheese. sprinkle meat and mushrooms over top of casserole.

cover and chill for 12-24 hours

Preheat over to 325, bake uncovered for about 1 hour

Tent with foil if top begins to brown too quickly
