Ingredients
7-8 eg yolks
1/2 cup sugar
4 cups milk
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
Preparation
Scald milk on the stove, then add sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir thoroughly. Remove mixture from heat and slowly add beaten egg yolks, whisking quickly. Return to low heat and stir constantly until mixture just starts to thicken. Remove immediately from the heat and keep stirring for a minute or two afterwards. Refrigerate.
