Ingredients
Cake
2 - 1oz. Bottles Red Food Coloring
2 T - Cocao
1/2 C - Veg Shortening
2 - Eggs
1 C - Buttermilk
2 1/4 C - Cake Flour
1 t - Salt
1 t - Vanilla
1 t - Vinegar
1 t - Baking Soda
Frosting
2 1/2 - Sticks Butter
1 1/2 C - Shortening
8 T - Flour
1 1/2 C - Milk
4 t - Vanilla
2 1/2 - Powder Sugar
Preparation
Cake
Mix food coloring & cocoa in small dish. Cream shortening and sugar together. Add whole eggs & coloring paste. Blend in the buttermilk & flour (which has been sifted 3 times with salt). Add vanilla. Remove from mixer & add vinegar & baking soda by hand.
Frosting
Cream Butter, Shortening, and Sugar. Add Flour 1 t at a time. Add Room Temp milk and Vanilla. Beat well.
