Ingredients
Sauce:
2 teaspoons vegetable oil
1/2 teaspoon minced ginger
1 tablespoon chopped garlic
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup water
3/4 cup dark brown sugar
Meat:
1 cup vegetable oil
1 pound flank steak
1/4 cup cornstarch
2 large green onions
Rice:
4 cups of cooked white or brown rice
Preparation
- Heat 2 teaspoons vegetable oil in a medium saucepan on med/low
- Add ginger and garlic , then soy sauce and water
- dissolve brown sugar into the sauce
- raise heat to medium and boil for 2-3 minutes, until sauce thickens
- remove sauce from heat
- slice flank steak into 1/4 inch bite size pieces cutting against the grain
- dip steak pieces into cornstarch to dust each piece of beef and sit for 10 minutes
- as it rests, heat 1 cup of oil in wok, at medium heat
- add beef to wok and cook for 2 minutes until it starts to darked at the edges
- take meat out and drain on paper towels
- pour out oil and put meat back, cooking 1 minute
- add sauce and cook 1 minute while stirring
- add green onion, cook 1 minute
- serve hot over rice
