Ingredients

1/2 c. butter

1 c. sugar

1 c. brown sugar

2 eggs

2 1/2 c. flour

1 1/4 tsp. baking powder

1 tsp. baking soda

1/2 tsp. salt

1 tsp. cinnamon

1 c. buttermilk or sour milk (to make sour milk, add 1 tsp. vinegar to 1 c. milk. Let set 5-10 min.)

1 tbsp. cider vinegar

2-4 c. chopped apples

3 tbsp. chopped nuts

Preparation

  1. Cream together butter and sugars until fluffy.
  2. Add eggs, one at a time.
  3. Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, & cinnamon.
  4. Add dry ingredients, alternately with buttermilk and vinegar, mixing after each addition.
  5. Fold in chopped apples.
  6. Spread into greased 9" x 12" pan.
  7. Top with chopped nuts.
  8. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour.
